Ideas For a Home Based Business — Let’s Get Some Cash Coming In

Looking for ideas for a home based business? First, some things to consider…

Working at home for yourself does not have to be difficult. In fact, once you’re up and running you’ll often find that you have more free time than you ever imagined having!

It’s a great feeling to be able to spend time with your family, relax and read a book, or even take off for a mini-vacation whenever you feel like it. The feeling of freedom and getting rid of that habitual stress is worth whatever it takes, in my opinion.

I’ll never go back to a suffocating, mind-deadening, low-paying insecure cubicle job again. You’ll soon feel the same way after getting a taste of this lifestyle.

Your goal should be to set up a business that provides you with recurring and passive income. That means you do the work once, and the money keeps coming in over and over. Then if you do more work, it means more money comes in.

This is radically different from the wage slave model, where you trade your time for money, and if you stop working, you stop earning.

It is possible to earn a six-figure income working from home, for fewer hours than you currently work at your regular job. You don’t need to be a computer tech to do this stuff — just a basic understanding of using email and navigating the Web, which you’re already doing by reading this blog, so you’re all set there.

There are a number of good ideas for a home based business that actually work. Affiliate marketing (where you promote other people’s products) is a popular method since you can start out without having your own website or your own product.

Blogs can be made profitable, and anyone can start their own blog in minutes with a free account from various sources (such as Google’s Blogger).

Here are a couple of methods that I find to be easy to do and give good results. They’re both from Kevin Riley, who I think does an excellent job of explaining things step-by-step even if you’re the rawest of beginners in this field. Of course, if you do have some experience, you simply skip over the parts you know already, but everything you need to know is in there.

The first one shows how you can turn any casual hobby into a fulltime six-figure home business. Watch the videos, they’re fun and give you the whole picture.

I highly recommend you get the one above if at all possible, but here’s another one from Kevin that will do the trick if you find yourself on a tight budget at the moment:

It’s a quick and easy guide to making your own products for profit — great and affordable for the complete beginner and experienced pro alike.

Check out those two ideas for a home based business and check back here for for profitable suggestions.

Make a Good Living Selling Information Products Online

People are always looking for information of one kind or another and are willing to pay for it.

Selling information products is one of the quickest and easiest ways to make a living online. Creating and delivering digital content has a very low overhead, so you can get going with absolutely minimal investment.

It’s important to find the right niche to work in. Despite what you may think, you don’t want to look for a market that has no competition.

That’s an indication that there’s no money to be made there, while the really competitive markets have amazing amounts of money swirling around them. It’s true that there’s tons of competition, but there’s so much business that you can easily find a small corner to set up shop in.

And you only need a tiny, tiny slice of a huge market to make a very comfortable income.

It’s a truism in marketing that there’s no point in re-inventing the wheel. You can knock yourself out trying to convince people to buy something totally new in a market where no money is being spent…

Or you can stick to the well-worn paths and make money.

A good marketing strategy is to start with an entry-level product that sells very inexpensively, say around $10-$20.

Then ideally you should have a more expensive product in the same niche to offer those that purchased your first product.

It takes a fraction of the effort to sell to someone who’s already your customer than it does to hunt down brand new customers.

There’s a handy guide put out by Kevin Riley where he shows you how to quickly put together your very own “money factory.”

Like all of Kevin’s stuff, it’s an easy and entertaining read, and also very profitable for you if you follow his advice.

Go to the link right now and check out the ridiculous picture of Kevin there:

Can You Make Money With Twitter?

As a matter of fact… yes, Twitter (and similar sites like Facebook, Squidoo, and so on) hold HUGE potential for the online marketer looking to quickly build his or her business…

Here are just a few opportunities to get your juices flowing:

  • You can sell your own products directly through Twitter…
  • If you don’t have your own product yet, you can sell other people’s products as an affiliate…
  • You can hold a contest — (this may not make you a lot of money at first, but it’s a great way to add lots of followers and build your “brand” on Twitter)…
  • There are software add-ons that automate the money-making process for you…

Watch out for some shady operators who are creating so-called “black hat” software tools to spam Twitter — it’ll just get you banned permanently and it poisons the whole site for everybody else. If you’re looking for an above-the-board automation tool for Twitter, here’s one that I like a lot and seems to work well:

I don’t know about you, but I find sites like Facebook and Twitter to be pretty addictive :)   If you’re going to spend all that time there anyway, you might as well get paid for it and build your business!

How to Create An Online Business

How to create an online business — there are actually a number of good ways to start a home based business that works for you. A lot depends on how much previous business or sales experience you have, how technical you are with stuff like HTML, ftp, php, and so on, and how much (if any) money you can invest into your business at the beginning.

Now don’t get alarmed, there are ways around all these requirements.

  1. No experience? That’s fine. The best way to learn something is by doing it. A common problem with Internet Marketing newbies is that they feel they have to know everything before they start doing anything. That doesn’t work. Just take action — do something to get you towards your goal, and trust that you’ll find a ways to figure everything out as you go along.
  2. Not a tech nerd? Not a problem, either — if you’re reading this, then you know how to navigate the Web and use email. If you know more than that, great. But you reallyknow all you need already.
  3. No money? Having something to invest can help speed things along. But having money and investing it in the wrong things can be worse than spending nothing. Too many people get caught up in buying every ebook they see, and then not doing anything because they’re suffering from information overload.

One popular method of getting started is affiliate marketing. This is where you promote other people’s products and get a percentage commission for each sale.

The upside to this method is you don’t need a website and you don’t need your own product. It’s very easy to get going, and some people make a lot of money with affiliate marketing.

The downside? While you do make some cash, you’re busy building someone else’s business instead of your own. You have to keep promoting new products to keep the money coming in.

Ideally you want to be building your own business and creating your own products (then other people can be your affiliates — they do all the work and you get the money!) That’s the smart long-term strategy. That’s how to create an online business.

Now you’re thinking “Create my own product? That sounds complicated and time-consuming.” Actually, it’s not that big a deal. You can create a quality product you’ll be proud to sell really quickly.

It helps a lot to have a template to follow — both to get your business started and to make products to sell. I’ve found one good step-by-step program that does an excellent job at a reasonable price. Take a look, it’s at http://a.gd/yourownprofitablebusiness
